Sosua is known over the
island for its milk and meat products.The village character
is shaped by international Restaurants, coffee shops, also Several
international schools, German butchers and bakers are to be

The old part of Sosua called the Charamicos, where the original
life of the Dominicans takes place, one can enjoy here the hot
music like merengue, bachata and salsa. Located on a crescent-shaped bay, Playa Sosua is a postcard perfect beach.
Featuring a backdrop of towering cliffs, the waters here are calm, clear and a
deep shade of turquoise. Playa Sosua is perhaps one of the Caribbean's most
popular beaches, which may explain the crowds. However, with so much to do -
shopping or eating in Sosua, snorkeling or even taking a glass bottom boat tour
- the crowds are worth the visit. Sosua Located on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic , only 5 miles / 8 km
distance of Puerto Plata International Airport. The beach of Sosúa offers a
one and half kilometer long beach of white sand, a bay protected by coral
reef haeds of crystal waters, the best scuba dive area and aquatic
activities on the north coast. Sosua’s agricultural consist of coffee,
cacao, rice, bananas; and cattle. Fishing and swimming are big activities of
Sosua. On Trujillo's invitation, on the eve of and during World War II,
22,500 acres / 9,000 ha were set aside for agricultural development for
Jewish refugees from Europe. Although 5,000 visas were issued, only 700
persons actually settled or passed through Sosua by 1947, and only 50 % in
agricultural. About 20 families still remain. In Sosua, you can still find a
few of the lovely handcrafted houses built by Jewish settlers in the 1940s.
Occasionally referred to as the “Acapulco of DR,” this area is known for its
unique nightlife.
From Sosua there is a 10 minutes drive to Cabarete, the hot spot of water
sport activities. Puerto Plata can be reached in
20 Minutes and Santiago is about a 1 hour by Puerto Plata drive or higly
recommended, over one of the most beautiful roads in the Dominican Republic,
the so called "Caretera Touristica", with its amazing views its about a 2
hours drive.
